Mobile versus home connection
This guide compares representative offers from Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free. A mobile plan gives you data on the move; fibre feeds the Wi-Fi at home.
- Prices checked on 9 October 2026, in euros including VAT per month, excluding the phone and paid options.
- Data allowances and services differ: this is not a ranking of the cheapest on identical terms, but examples for a new subscription.
- The prices in the table exclude discounts tied to a box. Promotions change: check the official offer just before subscribing.
Mobile: four operators
“Go” means GB. “Sans engagement” means no minimum commitment period, not necessarily no cancellation fee. The offers compared exclude the phone.
| Operator and plan | Data in France | Monthly price | Commitment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orange: Série Spéciale 130 GB 5G+ | 130 GB | €20.99 with web discount; €24.99 shown without discount | No commitment |
| SFR: 200 GB 5G | 200 GB | €19.99 | No commitment |
| Bouygues: B&YOU 200 GB Voyage 5G | 200 GB | €15.99 | No commitment |
| Free: Forfait Free 5G+ | 350 GB, reduced speed beyond that | €19.99 | No commitment |
Mobile: fees and conditions not to forget
- SIM and activation: the SFR 200 GB offer we checked shows a €10 SIM. B&YOU shows SIM €1 and activation €1, plus €5 for cancellation. Check the order total according to the promotion.
- For Orange and Free, confirm the SIM, eSIM and activation fees in the final order.
- Freebox Pop may give a discount on Free 5G+ under line and linking conditions.
- For some simultaneous B&YOU and Pure fibre subscriptions, the example shown is €12.99 for one year, then €15.99. Do not confuse it with the price of mobile alone.
- Calls to Japan and data in Japan have separate conditions: check the countries included, the allowance and the call prices.
Home internet: comparing fibre
Check whether your address is eligible. Ordinary fees and promotions for refund or waiver are separate. Delivery, extra equipment or options may be added.
| Offer | Months 1–12 | From month 13 | Commitment | Activation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orange: Livebox Classic Fibre | €29.99 | €42.99 | 12 months | €49; web waiver announced under conditions |
| SFR: Fibre Starter | €27.99 | €27.99 at the time of checking | 12 months | €49 |
| Bouygues: B&YOU Pure fibre | €24.99 | €24.99 at the time of checking | None | €48; refund or waiver under conditions |
| Free: Freebox Pop | €29.99 | €39.99 | None | €49; waiver on request announced under conditions |
Planning for the second year and cancellation
- Orange Livebox Classic goes up to €42.99/month and Freebox Pop to €39.99/month from month 13.
- The SFR and B&YOU offers mentioned showed no automatic increase after one year when we checked. That does not guarantee there will be no later change.
- No commitment does not mean no fees: published fibre cancellation examples are SFR €59 and B&YOU Pure fibre €69. Also check the amounts due if a commitment is still running.
- Check TV, landline and Wi-Fi repeater. Pure fibre is centred on internet and should not be compared as an offer including TV and unlimited standard calls.
In what order to choose?
- 1. Test your address on the official site and check the planned installation.
- 2. For mobile, check coverage at home, at work and at your place of study.
- 3. Decide your monthly data, your use abroad and the services you need.
- 4. Compare monthly price, activation, options and cancellation; do not look only at the promotional price.
- 5. If there is a mobile–box discount, check the price if you cancel one of the two contracts.
Other online brands
Sosh, on the Orange network, and RED by SFR are also options. Their promotions and support differ; check their conditions separately.
