What is being opened

According to ITmedia NEWS (4 November), Apple announced on 3 November (local time) that it is opening to all developers the integration between the “Siri AI” voice assistant and third-party apps. It relies on App Intents, which lets Siri AI directly use an app’s content and actions. It covers the betas of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3, available the same day as a developer preview.

What it allows

It becomes possible to track a delivery, book a restaurant or place an order by voice, without opening the app. “Skills” let several actions be chained together. Information stored in Spotlight’s semantic index becomes usable by Siri AI even outside predefined formats.

Timeline and conditions

The features built during the preview will reach the general public in a few months, and the App Store will accept compatible apps from spring 2027. Six languages are supported, including Japanese. An Apple Intelligence-compatible device is required; some functions depend on region and language, and children under 13 are excluded. Some functions that rely on server-side models have a daily limit, which could be extended in future for a fee. The terms and rules for apps will be specified later.

French grammar

Learn sentence patterns and usage from the article’s own sentences.

01Citing a source with selon
Structure

selon + noun / organisation

In the article
Selon ITmedia NEWS (4 novembre), Apple a annoncé le 3 novembre (heure locale) l’ouverture à tous les développeurs de l’intégration entre l’assistant vocal « Siri AI » et les applications tierces.
Key points

Selon means “according to”. Put a person or organisation after it as the source. It separates facts the writer checked directly from what another body or report said. Citing a source does not turn a forecast into an accomplished fact.

02The passé composé for events
Structure

present of avoir + past participle

In the article
Selon ITmedia NEWS (4 novembre), Apple a annoncé le 3 novembre (heure locale) l’ouverture à tous les développeurs de l’intégration entre l’assistant vocal « Siri AI » et les applications tierces.
Key points

It reports past events, as in “announced” or “explained”. A / ont is the auxiliary avoir and the next word is the past participle. The passé composé alone does not tell you the date of the event.

03The present of être
Structure

est / sont + complement

In the article
Six langues sont prises en charge, dont le japonais.
Key points

Est is third-person singular and sont third-person plural of être. They express “is / are” — a state or description. If a past participle follows, it is a different structure such as the passive, so check the words that follow.

04The subject relative pronoun qui
Structure

noun + qui + verb

In the article
Elle repose sur App Intents, qui permet à Siri AI d’utiliser directement le contenu et les actions d’une application.
Key points

Qui continues a description of the person or thing just mentioned (“the one that does…”). Because qui is itself the subject of the next verb, do not repeat the subject. The verb agrees with the noun qui refers to.

05Dates and their prepositions
Structure

le + 日付 / du … au …

In the article
Le 3 novembre (heure locale), Apple a ouvert à tous les développeurs l’intégration entre son assistant « Siri AI » et les applications tierces.
Key points

Le 15 octobre means “on 15 October”. Distinguish the le before a date from the le that marks a weekly habit like a weekday. Du is de + le and au is à + le, so decide the meaning from the verb and period expressions around them. Their role depends on the group: a range of dates, the date of a bulletin or another complement.

06The uses of dans
Structure

dans + noun phrase

In the article
Les informations enregistrées dans l’index sémantique de Spotlight deviennent utilisables par Siri AI même hors des formats prédéfinis.
Key points

Dans means “in, inside” for places, but also for a scope such as a system or period. With future time, dans deux jours means “in two days”. In the article’s example, check what it is “inside” and which scope it marks. Identify the value of dans in the passage.

01Citing a source: によると
Structure

noun + によると

In the article
ITmedia NEWS(4日)によると、米Appleが11月3日(現地時間)に、AI音声アシスタント「Siri AI」とサードパーティアプリを連携させる機能を、すべての開発者に開放すると発表しました。
Key points

As in “LCPによると”, it shows where the information comes from. What that source reported follows. It is used differently from “私にとって”, which gives one’s own opinion.

02Plan, outlook and policy
Structure

〜の予定 / 〜見込み / 〜方針

In the article
プレビューで作った機能が一般のユーザーに届くのは数か月後の予定で、App Storeで対応アプリの申請を受け付けるのは2027年春からです。
Key points

予定 is a plan, 見込み a forecast and 方針 a course of action or intention. None of them asserts that something has already been carried out. Note the difference from expressions such as “決まりました”.

03The polite past ました
Structure

verb stem (連用形) + ました

In the article
Appleが11月3日(現地時間)、AI版Siriとサードパーティアプリを連携させる機能を、すべての開発者に公開しました。
Key points

In “発表しました”, ました makes a verb polite past. The negative is “ませんでした”. Read the actual date together with the date and time in the text.

04Quoting with と: content and report
Structure

plain-form sentence + と + verbe de parole (報じる, 説明する…)

In the article
ITmedia NEWS(4日)によると、米Appleが11月3日(現地時間)に、AI音声アシスタント「Siri AI」とサードパーティアプリを連携させる機能を、すべての開発者に開放すると発表しました。
Key points

と takes the content that is reported or explained. In “改定する方針だと報じました”, “改定する方針だ” is what the report said. Separating the content from who said it and how makes long sentences easier to read.

05Possibility in Japanese: できる・られる
Structure

verb potential form / 〜ことができる

In the article
できること、時期、条件を整理します。
Key points

できる is the basic verb for ability. The potential form of 受ける is 受けられる. The same られる can also be passive or honorific, so decide from the meaning of the sentence.

06Linking actions with the て-form
Structure

verb て-form + next expression

In the article
対象は、iOS 27.3、iPadOS 27.3、macOS 27.3、visionOS 27.3のβ版で、開発者向けのプレビューとして同日に提供が始まりました。
Key points

The て-form links actions in a series, in order or as a reason. In “確認して、出発する” the relation is judged from the content. In “〜ている” it can show an action in progress or a continuing state.
